HongAun ****28 Sep 2023Generally the hotel is alright and staff are friendly and helpful. However the WiFi signal is very poor inside the room with only a single bar signal strength instead of 4! The front reception staff came up to the room to confirm and he helped to change me to another room. However, the other room's signal was equally poor with only a slight improvement!

Marcus *************17 Jan 2025My husband and I really loved this hotel. At first when booking we thought its really old, little did we know it has so much to offer! The onsen were very relaxing with many types of baths, the outdoor bath was so magical as it was snowing while I was soaking, really once in a lifetime experience. The ladies and men’s side will switch overnight so you can enjoy both sides, make sure to go! Although it was quite pricey as we booked last minute, the hotel has great service, has breakfast and dinner buffet (must go for dinner buffet as it has freeflow snow crab!!) and the best part is it is already complementary to the hotel booking no need to pay extra! There’s a cute gift shop in the lobby too. I forgot to mention, but the bed are the most comfortable hotel bed we have ever slept on. Located very near to bear park & Jigokudani.

Klook User21 May 2025We have stayed at a number of high end ryokans all over Japan and Takinoya is one of our favorites. Though we prefer older, more traditional looking ryokans, Takinoya has done a wonderful job of looking both classic and modern. Our room was a large suite with a bedroom and a separate tatami room for our son, a living room and a separate dining room where dinner and breakfast were served. We definitely prefer ryokans with in-room meal service. It seems from the room descriptions, about 70% of the rooms don’t have in-room meals. The meals were some of the best we have ever had at a ryokan. The chef has a superb palate. The onsens were fantastic and not crowded. Most of the time any of us were there, we were alone. Also, having an in-room onsen was a treat. Service was very good, but there was a sense at meal time that the staff had too much to do and was a little overwhelmed. Overall a fantastic experience and we would love to return. We would give Takinoya our highest reco
